For 34 years I have been consuming the world’s finest chocolate covered peanut butter balls made by my Grandpa Peter Helm Post during the Christmas holidays. At 70 years old, for the first time ever he is releasing his world-famous recipe. “World famous” because even when I lived in Malaysia as a kid, I remember receiving his chocolates in the mail. I have never had a Christmas with a shortage of my favorite chocolate covered peanut butter balls. If the amount got low, Grandpa would whip up another batch -as he is here in these photos when I was home for the holidays a few weeks ago. Grandpa also makes mint and coconut chocolate covered balls as well, in addition to white chocolate covered morsels, also in the photos below. If you have been waiting for this recipe for over 30 years or want to attempt this fine craft with your own recipe printout, then I have made these images (and more from the shoot, not pictured below) for sale by clicking HERE (I will give all proceeds to my grandpa, even though he said not to charge for the recipe! I’m not charging, as it is free below in the images, but if you want your own copy you can order from my online gallery.)

As I spoke to my grandma today, she informed me that they just found out that Grandpa’s great great grandfather opened his own candy store in his 60s, called Helm Candy Company: “makers of fine confectionery”. The Helm Candy Co. specialized in “velvet royals.” How cool.

Thank you for sharing with me in this special memory of my life, now available to you and make a tradition in your own home. Oh, another sweet memory, in the last two photographs is a letter from my great grandma Alma Ruth Cripe to my grandma Connie Jo Post. I love the words of my Great granny, “It’s fun to give… Our spirit of Christmas should give us peace and look forward to seeing family and friends. A blessed time. Sharing!”
